Mens Necklaces – The Way to Say “This is Who I Am”

Men have been adorning their necks with various metals and cords, bone and beads, since the early ages as a way of telling stories about themselves. A bear talon strung by heavy cord around a hunter’s neck told of the mighty battle he had as a young man. Beads strung on sinew and worn ceremoniously would indicate to which tribe he belonged.

Mens necklaces have always been a way for men to say “this is who I am.” Whether used to show one’s devotion to one’s belief system, indicate social status, or to merely add a little class to a wardrobe, today’s offerings in men’s fashion jewelry do not stop at cuff links, watches and wedding bands.

Traditionally, mens necklaces tend to be crafted of heavier materials. Gold chains are thicker, and not all styles of chain are worn. The Figaro chain is popular with men, as is the Mariner chain or a heavier Curb chain. Lighter, more delicate chains are not normally worn by men as they may appear effeminate.

Today, pendants fashioned from stone or natural wood, as well as various types of crosses or other religious symbols can be seen dangling from chains or cords around men’s necks, and it never looked more natural. As men’s fashion, overall, has taken a more casual turn, mens necklaces can be seen as very complimentary to a pair of slacks and a collarless shirt. In fact, every well-dressed man should have at least one favorite necklace to round out his wardrobe.
